Pitchbook, American Dance Abroad’s biannual publication of new works by U.S. choreographers, is open for submissions now through April 1, 2017. The third volume of Pitchbook will feature 10 dance projects that have premiered since July 1, 2016 or will premiere before June 30, 2018.
“Pitching” new work to potential producers and presenters is a great way to attract international partners and funding. Face-to-face pitching is a challenge for American choreographers since it requires travel and access to professional gatherings.
Pitchbook publicizes new projects without the necessity or expense of traveling. It is available through print and digital formats, and will be distributed by American Dance Abroad to international programmers at marketplaces and professional gatherings such as Aerowaves Spring Forward (Aarhus, Denmark), Performing Arts Market Seoul (Seoul, South Korea), and China Shanghai International Arts Festival Performing Arts Fair (Shanghai, China).
A fee of $25 will be charged for submission, the proceeds from which will go back into the creation of Pitchbook for the promotion of American dance internationally. If selected for Pitchbook: Volume III, you will be asked to submit:
• project title
• 2 photos (high-resolution/300dpi; one vertical, one horizontal)
• company logo (high-resolution/300dpi)
• 5-minute video pitch of new work being proposed
• premiere date/location
• titles of other pieces the work will be presented with
• type of support being sought
• other pertinent information
*Please do not submit if you will be unable to provide these items
