Director of Development, Annual Fund, UCSB Arts & Lectures

About the Position
UCSB Arts & Lectures is searching for a dynamic fundraising professional to oversee the annual fund at the largest performing arts program on California’s Central Coast. Working in partnership with the Arts & Lectures Senior Director of Development, this position is a critical front-line fundraiser for Arts & Lectures and represents the program to high-net wealth individuals in a community that has a long tradition of philanthropy in the arts. This position is responsible for a comprehensive annual fund, which has an annual goal of $1M+, including membership, gift solicitations and planning, and coordinating and executing aspects of A&L's robust development operation. The Director of Development, Annual Fund is a key member of the Arts & Lectures Development team meeting annual fundraising goals of $3-4M+ and identifying, cultivating and stewarding donors through meaningful arts experiences. The DOD Annual Fund designs and executes planned strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, closing and stewardship of gifts from individuals. Creates and manages membership campaigns at defined giving levels. Identifies major and leadership donors for early cultivation and eventual area investments. Works personally with top donor prospects and also supports A&L senior directors and volunteers in top prospect relationships. Spends a significant amount of time hosting and cultivating donors and prospective donors at A&L receptions, public events, private dinners, fundraisers, outreach and other events.

The ideal candidate must have a successful track record developing and implementing fundraising strategies and maintaining relationships with various types of donors and patrons. The position requires a strong work ethic, a self-starter who is organized and goal-oriented, and who has the ability to convey passionate about the performing arts and the world of ideas.

The Arts & Lectures program is a fun, fast-paced organization with a reputation for excellence in the arts. Because the great majority of Arts & Lectures’ contributors attend A&L’s many public performances and lectures, the A&L Development team has extraordinary opportunities for frequent personal contact with contributors at public events and the many social activities affiliated with those performances and lectures.

Salary range is dependent on experience. UCSB benefits are exceptional.

UCSB Art & Lectures is one of the premier University-based performing arts programs in the US and a driving force in the national performing arts scene. Two years ago, Arts & Lectures completed a successful five-year fundraising campaign, and in Spring 2018 hosted a highly successful fundraising event, demonstrating once again that Arts & Lectures is a strong and stable organization with an excellent profile in the philanthropic community.
