WAA in San Diego

Putting the Fun Back Into Fundamental!

The WAA Annual Conference travels to a different city each year, allowing us to make the most of the West's vibrant performing arts infrastructure and to bring new communities into the WAA fold.

WAA’s Joshua Heim and Jennifier Stewart travelled to sunny San Diego, CA last month to tour the newly renovated Town & Country Resort (our 2024 conference headquarters), conduct a recon of the local arts and culture scene, and meet with some of our wonderful Host Committee members – local performing arts professionals who lend their perspectives and expertise to help us enhance local connections and infuse the unique qualities of their city into the conference program.

Our members tell us the fundamental reasons they attend our conference are to connect, network, and do business — and that’s why the San Diego Host Committee is thrilled to bring WAA to 'America’s Finest City!'

“We are so excited for WAA to come to San Diego!” said localite Leah Rosenthal, Artistic Director at La Jolla Music Society/The Conrad and Host Committee Co-chair. “San Diego is synonymous with beautiful weather and gorgeous beaches, but this city has so much more to offer locals and tourists alike. I cannot wait for attendees to discover that we are a vibrant, culturally rich, and arts-loving destination as well.”

The Town & Country is brimming with good-time nostalgia vibes and will support your most fundamental conference goals beautifully. With comfortable exhibit hall and meeting spaces, outdoor hang-out areas galore, fire pits, and more than enough pool for everyone, attendees are sure to connect with colleagues in delightful and unexpected ways.  Not to mention, the city itself is a jewel of the Pacific.

Conference Manager, Jennifier, shared, “It had been years since my first site visit to San Diego, so it was extremely useful to tour the hotel again, reacquaint myself with the city – and most importantly, to connect with some of our committee members in-person. Josh and I also checked out several off-site locations throughout the city. San Diego is a remarkable town with many options for WAA 2024, and I’m just loving working with our Host Committee!”
