Halemanu is a Kanaka Maoli (indigenous person of Hawai’i) whose family heritage in the islands is traced back over 800 years. Growing up on Maui in a musical family, combined with advanced education from Los Angeles based Musicians Institute and years of live performance, he blends his Hawaiian influences with various contemporary musical styles. In 2018, he won the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for “Island Music Album of the Year”. As an educator, he has lectured for the University of Hawai’i, Hawai’i public school system, and developed the Hawaiian Guitar School online learning platform. An accomplished vocalist, ukulele player, and guitarist with over 6000 live and studio performances through out Hawaii, North America, and Japan, he has also engineered and produced hundreds of musical and media projects that have appeared in Hawai’i, the US and internationally, including industry icons such as, Oprah Winfrey, Willie Nelson, Members of Aerosmith and many others.
