Congratulations, Brandis B. Knudsen aka B. of Dakota South Records!

WAA’s Advancing Indigenous Performance (AIP) program awarded its inaugural Native Artist Opportunity Fund grant this week.

Brandis Knudsen — aka B. of Dakota South Records — was awarded $750 under the February 2022 cycle of the program, which has a monthly rolling application deadline. The grant will support the purchase of a new PA system.

Brandis (Yankton Sioux) has become one of the fastest rising artists in the industry. Following the success of his self-titled debut album came OHHH! B., which features award-winning single, Come and Get Your Love. The single — which includes an authorized sample of the 1974 Top 5 Billboard 100 single from Redbone — won the Native American Music Awards’ Single of the Year as well as Best Hip Hop Video at the LA Music Video Awards. Brandis also won Best Hip Hop Song at the 2019 Indian Summer Music Awards for What You Left with Me, featuring. JUQ.

The AIP Native Artist Opportunity Fund provides subsidies of up to $750 to assist US-based Indigenous performing artists. It supports the creation of promotional and showcasing assets, networking travel, virtual presentation skills-building, and other development activities.
