Introducing Conexiones Culturales de Latinoamérica (CCLA)—An International WAA Partner
WAA is committed to bringing together the international performing arts community and building relationships that reduce barriers for US artists overseas through initiatives such as the Performing Arts Discovery program.
WAA and our international partner, CCLA, share overlapping missions, with a common focus on cultural exchange, connection, collaboration, and the strengthening of professional networks to advance excellence in our respective fields.
We are excited to introduce CCLA’s first collaborative project, Conexión Sónica, to the WAA community.
About CCLA
Conexiones Culturales de Latinoamérica (CCLA) is a collaborative network of music programmers, agencies, and producers aiming to connect professionals in the music industry throughout the Latin American region.
Founded in April 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, CCLA seeks to increase the visibility of contemporary music, strengthen artistic mobility in the Latin American region, and increase business and professional development opportunities in the music sector through collaboration and knowledge exchange.
About Conexión Sónica
CCLA’s first collaborative project, Conexión Sónica, aims to bring together intergenerational cultural and musical dialogues while melding musical genres.
This free virtual music festival showcases musicians from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and Paraguay in the form of seven docu-concerts, blending traditional instruments, cross-cultural influences, and contemporary trends. Each docu-concert features a musical performance plus a conversation with the artists, as they speak to the origins of the instruments and the social contexts of the music.
The festival runs Monday, September 20 - Sunday, September 26 starting 5pm PT each day. You can stream the festival live via Conexión Sónica’s YouTube channel, and we’ll be posting the videos to this webpage at the end of the festival.
You can learn more about the festival and the artists by visiting the festival webpage.
