Applications for Native Launchpad 2023 are open!
Native Launchpad is part of the Advancing Indigenous Performance (AIP) program — WAA’s national initiative to create new touring and presentation opportunities for US-based Indigenous performing artists.
Each year, AIP selects a new cohort of Native Launchpad artists to receive direct financial and travel support, mentoring/coaching, career development, and promotional benefits — a package valued at $40,000, over three years.
Native Launchpad has provided access to resources, including expert mentorship and equipment, that have allowed me to take concrete steps to further my career. I'm grateful for the community of artists and industry professionals who have greatly encouraged my growth, said musician Elexa Dawson, part of the 2021 Native Launchpad cohort.
Applications, which are open to U.S.-based Indigenous performing artists, close on February 1, 2023. AIP Program Manager, Ed Bourgeois, is hosting an informational webinar, including application tips and guidance, to coincide with the application launch. Register for the webinar, which takes place on December 6 from noon - 1pm PT, here. A recording of the webinar will be available at the Native Launchpad page post-event.

The AIP program was established in 2018 with generous lead support from the Andrew W Mellon Foundation and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, both of whom continue to underwrite the program, along with additional funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and partnerships with Regional Arts Organizations Arts Midwest, Mid Atlantic Arts, New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), and WESTAF.
