Hello, my name is Delbert Anderson I was born on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, New Mexico.
I come from the Dine/Navajo Tribe. I studied trumpet performance and music education at Eastern New Mexico University. I lived in New Mexico all my life. During my education and practice I realized the value in growing up in a small enclosed area - you become different from the rest. I created DDAT, a quartet with bass, drums, trumpet and lyricist. Our music is inspired by early Native American music. We preserve early Native American music by bringing back these melodies and delivering them to our listeners in a way they never heard music before. DDAT is contemporary but we also keep improvisation, funk and jazz close to our hearts. Our music is very energetic, unexpected, engaging, creative and world class. DDAT offers educational outreaches, band/orchestra arrangement collaborations and counseling through music. There is nothing more pleasant than investing in our youth and their future. DDAT is also able to provide workshops/lessons for K-12.
