How You Can Use Make Your Voice Heard
Tell Congress to act now! Critical relief can’t wait until February 2021. Reposted from APAP.
Your voice matters and collectively our voices will make a difference! Congress has mere days to act to insure that COVID Relief doesn’t run out. This impacts PPP funding, expanded nonprofit tax credits, pandemic unemployment benefits, and other forms of relief for the arts, public education, states, and communities. Also under consideration and with growing bipartisan support is the Save Our Stages Act, which could provide much-needed dedicated support to parts of the commercial and nonprofit live entertainment sector.
In addition to addressing COVID relief, legislators are also hoping to pass funding bills for the 2021 fiscal year, which may be a vehicle for how COVID relief gets passed before the year is out.
Here are some steps you can take TODAY to make your voice heard:
Sign this petition to keep your elected officials informed about concerns and losses that are not being addressed and tell them about the arts' unique capacity to support the U.S. economy, uplift the human spirit, and provide lifelong learning.
Introduce or reintroduce yourself, or your organization to your re-elected or newly elected officials. These first conversations are great opportunities for everyone to listen for a better understanding of what is needed in your community.
Tell your legislators to save independent music venues, promoters and talent representatives! Tell congress to pass the #SaveOurStagesAct in order to keep independent venues nationwide from closing permanently.
